“But who is Lucie Castets?” When her name surfaces from the hat of the Nouveau Front populaire (NFP), following the summer 2024 snap legislative elections, the senior civil servant is unknown to the public as to journalists. She then holds the discreet post of Chief Financial Officer of the City of Paris. But the mere fact that the leaders of the NFP ended, after weeks of intense negotiations, by agreeing to demand that Emmanuel Macron appoint her to Matignon shows the rarity of her profile.
