Who We Are — The Story Behind Yarns Heal
Yarns Heal was created with a simple intention: to offer the Australian LGBTQ+ community a dedicated space where stories are not only told, but truly valued. In a landscape where queer voices are still too often underrepresented, we set out to build a media platform that reflects the diversity, resilience and brilliance of our communities across the country.
Our name, Yarns Heal, embodies what we believe in. Sharing stories — our “yarns” — has always been a way for people to connect, understand and support one another. For us, storytelling is not just information; it is a pathway to healing, visibility and empowerment. Every article we publish aims to shed light on lives, issues and experiences that deserve to be seen and heard.
We are guided by three core values: inclusion, integrity and community. Inclusion means embracing the full spectrum of LGBTQ+ identities, voices and backgrounds across Australia. Integrity means reporting responsibly, honestly and with respect. And community is at the heart of everything we do — we exist to serve, uplift and amplify those who shape queer life today.
From national news and culture to health, rights, activism and human stories, Yarns Heal covers the topics that impact our everyday lives. We work with writers, advocates and creators who share our vision for a media space that is both informative and genuinely supportive. Our platform is independent, community-driven and committed to representing every part of the rainbow with authenticity.
Yarns Heal is more than a media outlet — it is a place to connect, learn, celebrate and spark meaningful conversations. We honour the past, reflect on the present and imagine a future where LGBTQ+ voices are central, not secondary. Thank you for joining us on this journey. Together, we continue to prove that stories have the power to change hearts, minds and lives.
